Resumo: Cenário Armado, Objetos Situados: O ensino da Geografia na Educação de Surdos (em inglês)

      

This research intends to introduce teaching activities involving the Brazilian sign language, "Língua Brasileira de Sinais" (LIBRAS) to establish a relation of mutual reinforcement between geography teaching and the use of writing and reading in the Portuguese language. The incorporation of deaf students from an evening course in a school for youth and adults was set as a start. The history of the pedagogical proposal for the teaching of deaf people and the conflicts created by knowledge and power dispute was analyzed in the first part of the dissertation.

The second part introduces the space approach in the geographical and pedagogical perspective searching for elements which enable the starting point from the visual potentialities of the deaf people and the spaciousness of the Portuguese sign language as an instrument in the teaching process. The third part rescues the reflection on the teaching of deaf people and analyses the didactic activities developed.
